Let me tell you a story. It’s a very common story and it’s told often enough, but then again a story is only as good as the storyteller.

There was a boy who dreamed of changing the world and then the boy grew up and the world changed him in ways he had never imagined. The boy was not special because there are millions of other boys like him but I guess no one ever told him that.

And that was what he believed until the day he took his last breath, convinced that he was something special and unique, convinced that the world was a lesser place without him. Maybe he was right and maybe it does not matter that he was, because as of now man is the cheapest commodity out there. There are over seven billion other people out there and each and every one of them has a right to be selfish or at the very least that’s the way we feel because after all our species has always been selfish. Things that are precious are often rare like gems and Ferraris. Not everyone can have it and those who do believe themselves to be the kings of this world. But the truth is that that in the very short history of our species we have had enough stupid selfish kings and very few decent ones.

We don’t need kings or politicians or actors or philosophers. What we need are people that are willing to lead the way and show us that there is still something more for us out there. What we need is someone that tells us that this is not the end but the beginning of a new era, the era where we are finally responsible for saving the planet rather than destroying it. I can’t show you the way but the least I can do is urge that little boy somewhere out there who wishes to change the world, urge him not only to believe that he is special but to be special.
